                                               HATHA YOGA: CREATING BALANCE THROUGH SLOW AND MINDFUL PRACTICE Hatha Yoga is often described as a practice of balance. The word Hatha comes from two simple ideas — Ha , meaning the sun, and Tha , meaning the moon. Together, they represent opposite energies within the body, such as activity and rest, strength and softness. The goal of Hatha Yoga is not to push these energies, but to bring them into harmony. WHAT HATHA YOGA FOCUSES ON Hatha Yoga mainly works with physical postures, known as asanas , and gentle breath control, called pranayama . These two elements help create steadiness in the body and calmness in the mind. Movements are slow and intentional, allowing the practitioner to stay aware of each posture and breath.
